Privacy Policy

Popcorn Quiz ("the app") is a movie and TV trivia game. We built it to be playable without creating an account, and we do not collect or store any personal information about you ourselves.

What we don't collect

You can play Popcorn Quiz without signing up. We don't ask for your name, email address, or any other personal details, and we don't build a profile of you.

Game Center

If you choose to use leaderboards, Popcorn Quiz uses Apple's Game Center. Any data involved (like your Game Center nickname and scores) is handled directly by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy - we don't receive or store it ourselves.

Purchases

The optional "Remove Ads" purchase is processed by Apple's App Store and RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat only sees an anonymous identifier tied to your purchase, not your name or other personal details, and it's used solely to unlock the ad-free experience on your device.

Advertising

Popcorn Quiz shows ads through Google AdMob to support free access to the app (unless you've purchased "Remove Ads"). Google's advertising SDK can collect certain information to serve and measure ads, which may include:

Device identifiers and advertising IDs
General/approximate location (e.g. derived from IP address)
App usage and ad interaction data (impressions, clicks)
Device and network information (device type, OS version, IP address)

This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Google AdMob's data disclosure. Depending on your device and region, you may be able to limit ad personalization through your device's privacy settings.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver them (for example, letting you know a new Daily Quiz is ready). This relies on an anonymous device token, not personal information.

Movie and TV images

Movie and TV images in Popcorn Quiz come from TMDB (The Movie Database), TVmaze and fanart.tv. When the app shows an image, it downloads it directly from that provider's servers, so the provider receives the standard technical information any web request includes, such as your IP address. We don't send these providers any personal information about you. See TMDB's Privacy Policy for how TMDB handles these requests. Full credits are on our About page.

This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Children's privacy

Popcorn Quiz is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and revise the date above.
